Christmas has come early for children at Llwyncelyn Infants School in Porth thanks to a donation of books from staff at Western Power Distribution (WPD), the South Wales electricity provider.

For the past few years, staff at the company have been collecting books during the year, which they then donate to worthy causes.

This year, they chose to support Llwyncelyn Infants School, much to the delight of the children and their teachers.

Head teacher, Sian Harkin explained: “As soon as I had placed the books into our library the children were immediately interested in them – just like bees around a honey pot.

“We are very grateful to staff at WPD for this early Christmas present. It’s so nice to have good quality books which we so desperately need.”
