Tenovus Able to Treat More People Thanks to New Chemo Chair
Western Power Distribution

Tenovus, Wales’ leading cancer charity, will now be able to treat more people aboard the Mobile Cancer Support Unit thanks to a generous donation by Western Power Distribution. The energy supplier gave Tenovus a £2,000 donation for a chemotherapy chair which will increase the number of patients that can be treated at any one time by 25%.

The Mobile Unit has been treating patients near the Western Power Distribution base in Cwmbran since February 2009. The specialist chemotherapy chair is a welcome addition and will mean that Tenovus can help more people receive care; closer to home.

Richard Pugh, Mobile Unit Manager said;

“We are delighted with the donation; it will directly benefit people living with cancer and means we can now provide chemotherapy and other cancer treatment for four patients at one time which is great news for patients.

“The chair is designed to an extremely high standard and specification and will enable us to provide a vital service to our patients by bringing chemotherapy treatment to patients’ closer to home, helping to reduce the stress of travelling at an already difficult time.

“It is great that in times of adverse weather conditions that we have been experiencing; we can still reach people to give them their treatment when many patients cannot reach hospital.”
