BERWICK, Pa., March 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Operators at the Susquehanna nuclear power plant reconnected the Unit 2 generator to the regional electric grid Monday (3/17) after completing a planned inspection of its turbines.

Workers proactively replaced several dozen blades to enhance safe and reliable operations until next spring's refueling outage. No cracked blades were found, which is consistent with the data being received from the turbine's extensive monitoring system. Plant engineers will continue to closely monitor blade performance.

Unit 1 continues to operate at full power.

The Susquehanna plant, located in Luzerne County about seven miles north of Berwick, is owned jointly by PPL Susquehanna LLC and Allegheny Electric Cooperative Inc. and is operated by PPL Susquehanna.
