(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) – Paula Pottinger, senior vice president of Human Resources, has announced that she plans to retire after more than 28 years with LG&E and KU Energy.

Pottinger has been involved in a long list of key corporate initiatives since joining the company in 1987. She has held a number of management positions, overseeing organizational and executive development, compensation and human resource information systems, employee relations and human resources development before being promoted to Division Human Resource Director in 1997. She was promoted to vice president, Human Resources in 2002, and senior vice president in 2006.

She led the integration of the Human Resources functions and the One Utility initiative following the merger of LG&E Energy Corp. and Kentucky Utilities Corporation and directed the company’s HR aspects of the Powergen, E.ON and PPL acquisitions. Under Pottinger’s leadership, the company has enjoyed increasing employee satisfaction levels and launched such initiatives as diversity, wellness, the current Performance Evaluation Process and workforce planning.

Prior to joining LG&E, Pottinger worked with Nationwide Insurance Companies, and served as a human resources consultant for companies such as Citicorp; Barnes Hospital in St. Louis; and Accuray Corporation, the Ohio State Government and Metro Women’s Center in Columbus.

She attended the E.ON Executive Program at Harvard Business School; the International Institute for Executive Development in Lausanne, Switzerland, and she completed the Kellogg Graduate School of Management Executive Development Program, where she received the Best Communicator Award.

She has a Ph.D. and a master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology from The Ohio State University, where, as an instructor of undergraduate students, she earned the University Distinguished Teaching Award, was published twice, and graduated first in her class. Pottinger’s bachelor’s degree is in psychology from the University of Notre Dame, where she graduated summa cum laude and earned the Distinguished Senior Award. She has also served on the adjunct faculty at the Bellarmine University School of Business in Louisville teaching business management.

Pottinger is a member of the Human Resource Planning Society, the American Psychological Association, the Association for Psychological Science, Society of Industrial Organizational Psychology, and the Society of Psychologists in Management. She also is a board member of The Louisville Zoo and a past board member of Leadership Louisville Center, The Louisville Urban League and Maryhurst.

Greg Meiman, director of Corporate Tax and Benefit Plan Compliance, has assumed the role of vice president of Human Resources, reporting to Staffieri.

Meiman joined LG&E and KU in 1996 as a senior corporate attorney. He was promoted numerous times before leaving the company in early 2001 for private law practice. He rejoined the company as senior counsel and executive plan specialist in late 2002. His role included providing counsel on complex legal issues related to employee benefits and taxation, along with management responsibilities in the Legal Department. Throughout his tenure, Meiman has worked on numerous significant tax matters and corporate transactions including the KU Energy Corporation merger, as well as the Powergen, E.ON and PPL acquisitions. 

He was named to his current role in 2013 and is responsible for directing the Tax and Payroll departments, assuring company compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations. Meiman also works closely with Human Resources on numerous efforts, including the company’s employee benefit plans and compensation programs.

Before joining the company, Meiman served as tax and benefit counsel for Providian Corporation, and began his career as an accountant with a regional accounting firm.

He is certified as an employee benefits specialist through the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania; a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, the Louisville Bar Association, and the Kentucky Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is also active in the community and serves on the Louisville Ballet board.

Meiman has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisville, and a juris doctor degree from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law.
