Editor’s note -- Important information for customers.

Below is our regular update on changes to the price to compare – the price paid by customers who do not shop for their energy. It’s important to note that:

- Customers do not have to pay the price to compare if they shop for their energy supply.

- They may be able to get a cheaper price by shopping for their energy supply.

- Competitive suppliers may offer better prices.

- The price to compare will be posted one month in advance, to help customers make decisions about shopping.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (Nov. 2, 2016) – PPL Electric Utilities has posted its price to compare for customers who rely on the utility to purchase electric supply on their behalf.

Effective Dec. 1, the new price to compare for residential customers will be 7.439 cents per kilowatt-hour (currently 7.491 cents per kWh). The price to compare for small business customers will be 7.197 cents per kilowatt-hour (currently 6.664 cents per kWh).

PPL Electric Utilities’ updated price to compare takes effect every six months, on June 1 and Dec. 1 each year.

Shopping for energy supply: Information about shopping for electric supply can be found on the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission’s website, www.PAPowerSwitch.com, or on PPL Electric Utilities’ website at www.pplelectric.com/choice.

PPL Electric Utilities encourages customers to seek opportunities to save on power supply costs by shopping for deals with competitive electric suppliers. For those who choose not to shop, the company holds energy auctions to purchase power at the lowest possible price.

About the price to compare: Generation rates and prices to compare for residential and small business customers are adjusted every six months to reflect the cost of power purchases and adjustments based on customer use in the prior period. The generation rate for large industrial customers is based on hourly market prices.

PPL Electric Utilities does not profit on the generation portion of customers’ bills. It merely passes along the cost of that supply to non-shopping customers without markup.
