Duke requested help from utilities in neighboring states after yesterday's winter storm left more than 1 million customers without electricity.

PPL Electric Utilities is responding by sending 30 line crews and various support personnel such as foremen, material handlers and transportation crews. The company provides assistance to other utilities when it is able to do so without affecting its ability to respond to its 1.3 million customers in 29 counties of eastern and central Pennsylvania.

Yesterday's winter storm left behind three to eight inches of snow in PPL Electric Utilities' service territory. PPL customers had minimal problems as a result of the snowfall.

PPL Electric Utilities Corporation is a subsidiary of PPL Corporation (NYSE: PPL). PPL Corporation, headquartered in Allentown, Pa., controls about 11,500 megawatts of generating capacity in the United States, sells energy in key U.S. markets and delivers electricity to customers in Pennsylvania, the United Kingdom and Latin America.
