IronPigs’ ‘Go Green Night’ marks the 75th anniversary of first major league baseball night game
Fans of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs will experience more than just a baseball game when they cheer on the home team Monday night (5/24). Visitors to Coca-Cola Park will learn about how they can “go green” by taking advantage of new energy-saving E-power programs from PPL Electric Utilities.
PPL Electric Utilities is the sponsor of Monday’s IronPigs green minibat giveaway. During the game, IronPigs fans will get information about the E-power programs and rebates that could help them save energy and money. The IronPigs green minibats will be given out to the first 2,000 children under the age of 12 in attendance. Adult fans will receive a free compact fluorescent light bulb after the game, courtesy of PPL Electric Utilities.
May 24 marks the 75th anniversary of the first major league baseball night game to be lit by electric lights. In 1935, the Cincinnati Reds hosted the first night game at Crosley Field and defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 2-1.
“This is a great opportunity to celebrate a milestone in America’s national pastime while educating IronPigs fans about saving energy,” said Thomas Stathos, director of Customer Programs and Services for PPL Electric Utilities. “Our E-power programs give customers the ability to use less energy through rebates and incentives that help them better manage their utility costs, not only in the summer months, but also throughout the year.”
With summer just around the corner, here are a few ways that everyone can pitch in to save energy:
