An artistic youngster from Brecon who scooped the top prize in a competition to design a Christmas card for the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society has seen his winning design in print and on sale.

Eight-year-old Warok Rai, a pupil at Mount Street Junior School, will see his card launched on the first day of the Royal Welsh Winter Fair on Monday, Nov. 28, at the showground in Builth Wells where it will be on sale.

Warok’s winning design was judged overall winner in this year’s Children’s Art and Design competition sponsored by Western Power Distribution (WPD). He received a cash prize of £30 plus £100 for his school.

The competition attracted over 500 entries from more than 32 schools from across Wales.  Pupils were invited to use their skill and imagination to design a painting or drawing illustrating the impact the festive season has on farming life.

“It’s exciting to think that my card will be sent all over Wales. I am so pleased to think that my design was chosen as the best,” said Warok,

Warok will be presented with a specially designed framed copy of his Christmas card by competition judge Karen Welch from WPD at the Winter Fair.

Karen explained: “We continue to be delighted with the response to the competition which WPD has sponsored for over 10 years. Each year we are thrilled to see the excellent standard of entries maintained.

“It was a difficult choice but the judges thought that Warok’s design stood out and really captured the spirit of Christmas on the Farm,“ added Karen.

The presentation to Warok Rai will take place on Monday, Nov. 28, in the Royal Welsh Agricultural Shop located on the Showground.
