An Early Christmas Present for Hop Skip & Jump
Western Power Distribution

A local support and play centre for children with special needs has received an early Christmas present from some generous donors.

Thanks to contributions from Lloyds Pharmacy, Western Power Distribution, BAWA and Royal Sun Alliance, Hop Skip & Jump in Kingswood has taken delivery of three new sensory boards for its external play area.

The brightly-coloured sensory boards incorporate instruments including bells, bongos and a xylophone to encourage children to interact with their environment, rewarding them through a range of interesting sounds.

The boards are a welcome addition to the range of specialist equipment at the centre, and will encourage the children who visit the centre to explore their various senses, stimulating different parts of the brain.

Michael Lowe, Centre Manager at Hop Skip & Jump said “There are numerous proven benefits of sensory stimulation for children with learning disabilities, and this particular equipment is not something that the children using the service will have access to at home.  It has already proven to be extremely popular with them and is a great addition to the centre. ”

“We are extremely grateful to these businesses - BAWA, Royal Sun Alliance, Western Power Distribution and Lloyds Pharmacy - for their ongoing support of Hop Skip & Jump.”
