PPL EnergyPlus®, the competitive energy marketing subsidiary of PPL Corporation, has been awarded a three-year contract to provide electricity supply to 13 federal government facilities in eastern and central Pennsylvania.

“This contract continues the solid relationship we have established with the General Services Administration as a competitively priced energy supplier for federal facilities in Pennsylvania,” said Joel Cook, vice president of Retail Marketing and Western Trading for PPL EnergyPlus.

In 2013, PPL EnergyPlus was awarded a contract by the GSA for electricity supply to 20 federal government facilities across Pennsylvania. The new contract is for facilities in the area served by PPL Electric Utilities.

Under the new contract, PPL EnergyPlus will provide about 65 million kilowatt-hours of competitively priced electricity supply, 10 percent of which will be from renewable resources. The federal facilities to be served include federal prisons, hospitals and office buildings.

The GSA oversees the business of the federal government. Its acquisition solutions supply federal purchasers with cost-effective, high-quality products and services from commercial vendors. The GSA provides workplaces for federal employees and oversees the preservation of historic federal properties.
