Artistic pupils from a Brecon school have scooped top prizes in this year’s Royal Welsh Agricultural Society’s annual Children’s Art and Design Competition sponsored by Western Power Distribution (WPD).

Each year the competition attracts hundreds of entries from young artists across Wales. Pupils are invited to use their skill and imagination to design a painting or drawing illustrating ‘What Christmas Means to Me’.

Eva Lornie a pupil at Mount Street Junior School, Brecon, was declared the overall winner of the competition.  She also won first prize in the nine to eleven-year-old category. Eva received a cash prize of £30, and £100 for her school.

Eva’s design will also be used as the Society’s official Christmas card for 2017 and will be on sale at the Royal Welsh Winter Fair in December.

Other winners from Mount Street Junior School in this category included Josh Davies, who received a second prize of £20 and Isla Mae Burgess who came third and received £15.
