LG&E and KU Foundation celebrates Future Bright Lights
Foundation awards scholarships to 10 outstanding students across Kentucky

(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) — As students across Kentucky prepare to graduate and move on to the next phase of their academic careers, the LG&E and KU Foundation is celebrating 10 standouts. The Foundation is recognizing the students as “Future Bright Lights” — leaders of tomorrow empowered through Foundation efforts such as scholarships, STEAM support and academic partnerships. Each of the scholarship recipients is awarded $1,200 in renewable financial assistance for up to four years. The scholarship winners are children of LG&E and KU employees and the dollars awarded are intended for tuition, books, fees, supplies and classroom equipment.

“We want to give our young adults every opportunity to succeed and help remove even small burdens so they can focus on their education,” said LG&E and KU Vice President of Communications and Corporate Responsibility, Chris Whelan. “We’re proud to support their academic journey and wish them the very best.”

For the 2022 awards, program administrator Scholarship America (SA) reviewed applications from college-bound children of LG&E and KU employees. SA’s Scholarship Selection Committee, which is comprised of individuals not associated with LG&E or KU, selected the recipients based on academic skills, school and community activities, leadership abilities, and communication skills demonstrated by each student’s personal statement.
