ALLENTOWN, Pa., April 2 -- PPL Electric Utilities is offering residential customers a free home energy audit through the company's Web site at http://audit.pplweb.com/energyaudit.

This interactive feature, called PPL Energy$ense, helps customers understand their electricity use and improve the energy efficiency of their homes.

PPL Energy$ense automatically links to customers' actual electricity usage when they enter their PPL customer number. The customer number appears in the upper right corner of the PPL electric bill.

Customers enter information about heating, air conditioning, appliances, insulation, windows, lighting and other energy-using features of their homes and receive a Personal Energy Profile with specific energy-saving recommendations.

An additional feature of PPL Energy$ense is the Energy Calculator, which helps customers learn the cost of operating televisions, computers, ovens, water heaters and other appliances. Using the calculator, customers can easily compare the operating cost of new appliances with the operating cost of older, less efficient appliances.

PPL Energy$ense also includes an Energy Mall, where customers can buy a variety of energy-saving items online.

PPL's market research has shown that customers are looking for information on how they can use energy more efficiently and save money on their electric bills. PPL Energy$ense is a direct response to this customer expectation, as PPL continues to look for ways to improve customer satisfaction.
