Unit 1 Reactor at PPL's Susquehanna Nuclear Power Plant Shuts Down Safely

BERWICK, Pa.

The Unit 1 reactor at PPL's Susquehanna Nuclear Power plant shut down automatically and safely at 8:42 p.m. Saturday (11/25).

"All plant systems operated as designed. The cause of the shutdown is under investigation," said Joe Scopelliti, spokesperson for the Susquehanna plant.

The Unit 2 reactor continues to operate at full power.

The Susquehanna plant, located about seven miles north of Berwick, is owned jointly by PPL Susquehanna LLC and Allegheny Electric Cooperative Inc. and is operated by PPL Susquehanna.
