Hoffman, who served in the Montana House of Representatives from 1991 to 1993, will join PPL Montana June 24.

"We are very fortunate to have a person of David Hoffman's experience and reputation join the PPL team," said Brad Spencer, vice president and chief operating officer of PPL Montana, the company that operates PPL's power plants in the state. "After an extensive search, we are convinced that David is the best person to represent PPL before governmental bodies and others in Montana."

In his new position, Hoffman will have overall responsibility for PPL's governmental affairs and communications activities in Montana. He will have offices in both Helena and Billings.

Hoffman will also represent PPL EnergyPlus, the company that markets electricity produced by PPL's power plants in Montana.

A graduate of the University of Montana and the University of Montana School of Law, Hoffman spent nine years in private law practice with the firm of Jones & Hoffman in Virginia City before moving to Dillon and founding the firm of Hoffman & Suenram. For the past year, he has served as administrator of the utility division of the Montana Public Service Commission.

PPL Montana and PPL EnergyPlus, both subsidiaries of PPL Corporation (NYSE: PPL), have offices in Butte, Billings and Helena, and together employ more than 500 people in Montana. PPL Montana operates the Colstrip and Corette generating plants and 11 hydroelectric facilities within the state.

PPL Corporation, headquartered in Allentown, Pa., controls or owns more than 10,000 megawatts of generating capacity in the United States, sells energy in key U.S. markets, and delivers electricity to nearly 6 million customers in Pennsylvania, the United Kingdom and Latin America.
