In conjunction with the release of its third quarter earnings results on Wednesday, Oct. 25, PPL Corp. (NYSE: PPL) invites interested parties to listen to the live Internet webcast of management's teleconference with financial analysts at 9 a.m. (EDT) that day.

In the first two quarters of 2000, PPL Corp. reported record earnings, bettering levels in the same periods of 1999 by 30 percent and 60 percent, respectively. On Wednesday, the company will announce that its earnings have exceeded financial analysts' estimates for the third quarter, the seventh consecutive quarter that the company has met or exceeded these estimates.

In the third quarter, PPL Corporation's common stock price increased by about 90 percent, more than three times the increase in the Dow Jones Utility Average for the same period. Through the first nine months of the year, PPL's common stock price outperformed the Dow Jones Utility Average by two-to-one.

William F. Hecht, PPL chairman, president and chief executive officer, and John R.
