In conjunction with senior management's presentation to financial analysts at the Edison Electric Institute's (EEI) 35th annual financial conference in San Francisco on Tuesday, Oct. 31, PPL Corp. In each of the first three quarters of 2000, PPL Corp. has reported record earnings, bettering levels in the same periods of 1999 by 30 percent, 60 percent and 47 percent, respectively. PPL's earnings exceeded financial analysts' estimates for the third quarter, the seventh consecutive quarter that the company has met or exceeded these estimates.

William F. Hecht, PPL chairman, president and chief executive officer, will conduct the presentation, which EEI will make available on-line live, in audio and video format. The presentation will cover PPL's third quarter results and provide a general business outlook.
