ALLENTOWN, Pa.

PPL Corporation has selected 24 talented winners from the more than 4,000 entries submitted to the company's 2006-07 electrical safety poster contest for students in kindergarten through eighth grade.

"The contest helps us raise students' awareness of electrical safety in and around the home," said Meg Welker, PPL's education relations director. "It's wonderful to see the creative, life-saving lessons in the thousands of entries we receive."

Students used crayons, pencils or paints to depict their electrical safety messages.

A panel of teachers and PPL employees judged the posters and selected 24 winners in eight grade-level categories. Winning students receive shares of PPL Corporation stock. Now in its 21st consecutive year, the contest is open to school and home-school students in eastern and central Pennsylvania and parts of New Jersey.

This year's eight grand-prize posters have been highlighted on PPL's 2007 safety calendar, which will be distributed to schools and PPL employees to remind them of important electrical safety messages.
