Summer Electricity Use Record Set by PPL Electric Utilities' Customers

Customers of PPL Electric Utilities set a summer record for electricity use Tuesday afternoon (7/23).

At 1:34 p.m., customers used an estimated 6,702 megawatts of electricity, breaking the summer record of 6,675 megawatts set on Aug. 7, 2001. The all- time electricity use record for PPL Electric Utilities is 6,928 megawatts set on Jan. 17, 2000.

With temperatures soaring into the 90s on several days in July, PPL Electric Utilities has continued to provide reliable electric delivery service.
