Get in the holiday spirit – and save energy – with discounts on LED holiday lights from PPL Electric Utilities

PPL Electric Utilities, the company offering customers many ways to save energy, now is offering discounts on the purchase of energy-saving LED holiday lights.

Customers can save on these cool-burning, long-lasting decorative lights without having to leave home. The lights are being offered at a steep discount through the PPL Electric Utilities online “e” Store.

Light prices already are listed at 30 percent off, and an additional 20 percent is deducted for PPL Electric Utilities customers at checkout. Five strands are allowed per order. Customers can reach the “e” Store by clicking on the e-power icon at www.pplelectric.com.

“Our focus is always on helping our customers get the most for their energy dollar,” said Thomas C. Stathos, PPL Electric Utilities’ director of customer programs and services. “These holiday light discounts make it easier for everyone to decorate with energy-efficient LED lights.”

In addition to the LED lights initiative, PPL Electric Utilities also will begin offering more than a dozen programs to promote energy efficiency. Rebates for new energy-efficient equipment, a compact fluorescent light bulb campaign and an appliance recycling program are among the programs planned or being offered.

“All customers can benefit,” Stathos said. “The wide variety of programs means there is something for everyone.”

Each string of LED (light-emitting diode) lights saves energy because it uses 80 percent less electricity than conventional incandescent holiday lighting and costs less than a dollar per season to operate. They also are made of tough material so they don’t break easily.

PPL Electric Utilities, a subsidiary of PPL Corporation (NYSE: PPL), provides electric delivery service to 1.4 million customers in 29 counties of eastern and central Pennsylvania and has consistently ranked among the best companies for customer service in the United States.
