PROVIDENCE, RI (August 25, 2022) – Rhode Island Energy invites nonprofit organizations throughout the state to attend a virtual information session at 10 a.m. on Sept. 8 to learn more about the company’s commitment to Rhode Island communities and new grant opportunities available through the PPL Foundation.

PPL Foundation was established by PPL Corporation, Rhode Island Energy’s parent company, in 2012 to support programs that improve lives in areas served by PPL’s utilities. Since then, it has awarded more than $20 million to help build strong communities.

With PPL’s recent acquisition of Rhode Island Energy, PPL Foundation is now expanding its philanthropic focus to the Ocean State. The Foundation plans to launch a new Empowering Communities grant program in Rhode Island Energy’s service territory in September. Through the program, eligible nonprofit organizations may apply for grants of $1,000 to $50,000 to support initiatives focused on education; diversity, equity and inclusion; and sustainable communities.

Interested nonprofit organizations may register for the virtual information session by following this registration link. During the session, Rhode Island Energy and PPL Foundation representatives will provide an overview of the Foundation’s focus areas and the Empowering Communities grant process. Applications for the initial round of Empowering Communities grants will be accepted from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, with grants awarded later this fall.
