Media Advisory: School Back in Session for Area Teachers with Think Energy! Sustainability Through Energy Efficiency Workshop
PPL Electric Utilities

Teachers from 77 schools across Pennsylvania will participate over the next two weeks in six Think Energy! Sustainability through Energy Efficiency workshops offered by PPL Electric Utilities and the National Energy Foundation.

The free one-day, highly interactive workshop was offered to teachers in any K-12 school in PPL Electric Utilities service area. The class will enhance educators’ knowledge of sustainable practices with a focus on energy sources, energy consumption and energy efficiency.

The teachers will receive a kit of instructional supplies and participate in hands-on activities that they can integrate into their classroom lesson plans. All of the activities correlate with Pennsylvania’s academic standards for science, technology, the environment and ecology.

Among the topics in the program will be how to perform an energy assessment at home and at school in hopes of motivating students and their families to take action to save energy, money and the environment. Materials will be provided to form Energy Action Patrol teams at schools, too.

When: July 17-26 from 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
The morning focuses on sustainability, the choices we make and their future impacts. The afternoon session focuses on sustainable living with energy efficiency with multiple activities, using a Kill-A-Watt meter to measure electricity usage, and energy tips for home and school.
