Company Donates Computers to Local Charity

A Coventry charity has received two new computers for their training room, thanks to a donation from Western Power Distribution.

The Coventry Resource Centre for the Blind (CRCB) provides support, information, resources, training and social activities for people who are visually impaired in the Coventry area.

Tricia Griffiths, who helps run the charity, said she was delighted with the donation. “The computers are fantastic and mean we can help more local people who are visually impaired to learn new skills.

“The charity currently runs three computer skills training sessions each week but we were in real need of the new computers to meet demand,” said Tricia.

One of the service users includes Trudi Toomber, 92, from Canon Park, Coventry. “No matter what age you are and whether you have sight difficulties or not, you can still learn something new,” said Trudi.

Simon Deacon, WPD Distribution Manager for Coventry, said: “We are very pleased to support the CRCB. It is the only charity of its kind in this area, so the services they provide are vital to the visually impaired community. It is a great resource and a great facility.”

WPD is also sponsoring the CRCB’s Annual Celebration Concert, which features The City of Coventry Male Voice Choir and local soprano Abigail Rhodes. The concert is taking place at The United Reformed Church, Warwick Road, on Saturday 17 November from 7.30pm. Tickets are £8 each and you can order these by contacting the CRCB or the church.
