PPL Montana Welcomes Applications for Environmental Education Grants

Teachers across Montana still have time to submit applications for a PPL Montana Environmental Education grant. The program provides funding for initiatives that help students learn about the environment and protect and appreciate natural resources.

“Teachers can apply for a 2013 grant of up to $1,500 by filling out the online application form at www.pplmontana.com through Jan. 31,” said Lisa Perry, PPL Montana’s community affairs manager.

“Proposals, which can range from wetlands to energy conservation, should be less than 1,000 words and include a description of the project, grade level, number of students involved, proposed budget and how the project’s results will be evaluated,” she said. “To support as many projects as possible, we accept only one application per teacher.”

Winners, selected by a panel of environmental professionals, educators and PPL Montana employees, will be announced in mid-February, and projects described in the applications must be completed by June 30.

“The environmental education grant program is part of PPL Montana’s commitment to education, one of the many ways we partner with school districts in the communities where we live and work,” Perry said. “Over the years, the program has shown the creativity of teachers and students whose work has benefited environmental classroom education and extracurricular activities of school organizations and clubs.”
