Public Access Road Near Brunner Island Plant to Be Closed Weekdays Throughout Summer
PPL Generation

PPL Generation’s Brunner Island power plant is closing its public access road to the Susquehanna River during weekdays starting July 2 as part of a construction project to extend the plant’s rail yard.

South Haul Road, which is south of the power plant and leads to a popular fishing and boating access site for the river, will be opened for the weekends.

The road will be closed for safety reasons because of the increase in traffic that will occur along that route while the project is in progress.

The plant is increasing the length of its railroad spur to give it more flexibility with coal deliveries. The project is expected to be completed in early September, at which time South Haul Road will once again be open throughout the week.
