PPL Corp. to Webcast Conference Call on Fourth Quarter, Year-End Earnings Results

PPL Corp. (NYSE: PPL) plans to release its consolidated fourth quarter and year-end 2000 earnings results before the stock market opens on the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 24.

In conjunction with the release of its earnings results, the company invites interested parties to listen to the live Internet Webcast of management's teleconference with financial analysts at 9 a.m. (EST) that day.

William F. Hecht, PPL chairman, president and chief executive officer, and John R. Biggar, executive vice president and chief financial officer, will conduct the teleconference, which will be available online live, in audio format, on PPL's Internet Web site: http://www.pplweb.com/. To access the teleconference, which will cover fourth quarter and year-end 2000 results and provide a general business outlook, click on the "Fourth Quarter Earnings Release" icon. For those who cannot listen to the live Webcast, a replay will be accessible in the same manner via PPL's Internet Web site for 30 days.

Through the first three quarters of 2000, PPL Corp. reported record earnings, exceeding adjusted earnings levels in the same period of 1999 by 40 percent. On Jan. 4, the company announced that its earnings are expected to exceed Wall Street's consensus earnings estimate of $3.03 per share for 2000.

During 2000, PPL Corporation's common stock price increased by 98 percent, more than twice the pace of the increase in the Dow Jones Utility Average for the same period.
