Herb Woodeshick to Retire as PPL's Susquehanna Nuclear Plant Community Representative; Lou Ramos Named as Replacement

ALLENTOWN, Pa.

Herbert D. Woodeshick, PPL Corporation's longtime community representative and spokesperson for the Susquehanna nuclear power plant near Berwick, Pa., will retire June 30.

Woodeshick will be succeeded by Luis A. Ramos, a 30-year PPL veteran and award-winning community leader in the Allentown, Pa. area. Ramos will relocate to the Berwick area.

"All of us at PPL wish Herb well in retirement and thank him for his 39 years of company service -- the last 21 of them as our community representative at our nuclear plant," said Joanne Raphael, PPL's vice president of External Affairs.

"Looking ahead, we're excited to have Lou Ramos succeeding Herb in this important position. Lou's experience, his strong community service orientation and his solid contacts at the state and federal level will serve PPL and the Berwick community well."

Ramos is a member of the Pennsylvania State Board of Education. He was appointed by U.S. Senator Rick Santorum to the United States Senate Republican Task Force on Hispanic Affairs.

He is on the board of the Minsi Trails Boy Scout Council and serves as a trustee of DeSales University. He has received the Distinguished Service Award of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Lehigh University Volunteer Service Award, the Minsi Trails Boy Scout Council award and the Community Fabric Award from Northampton Community College.

Ramos joined PPL in 1973 in the Customer Service department, and has held positions in customer accounting and consumer affairs. He was named to his most recent position, manager of Community Affairs, in 1993.

A native of Patillas, Puerto Rico, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in management science from Lehigh University. In his spare time, Ramos coaches youth soccer. He and his wife Sharon have two grown children.

Woodeshick joined PPL in 1965 as an engineer in the Line and Substations Department. He worked in the Industrial Sales section in northeastern Pennsylvania before being named operating manager in Honesdale, Pa. in 1972. He became marketing manager in Hazleton in 1980 and was appointed to his current job when the Susquehanna plant began commercial operation in 1983.

Woodeshick was named Distinguished Citizen of the Year by the Berwick Area Chamber of Commerce in 2002 and received the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America that same year. He is a longtime member of the chamber and former president. He serves on the boards of the Columbia-Montour Boy Scout Council, Central Susquehanna Community Foundation, Berwick Salvation Army and the Berwick Healthcare Corporation. He is a past Campaign Chairman of Berwick Area United Way.

The Susquehanna plant, located about seven miles north of Berwick, is owned jointly by PPL Susquehanna LLC and Allegheny Electric Cooperative Inc. and is operated by PPL Susquehanna.
