PPL Susquehanna Names Vice President-Nuclear Site Operations

Britt T. McKinney, a 29-year veteran of the nuclear power industry and currently site vice president at Wolf Creek Nuclear Generating Station, has been named vice president-Nuclear Site Operations for PPL's Susquehanna nuclear power plant.

McKinney will report to Bryce Shriver, PPL senior vice president and chief nuclear officer, and have overall responsibility for site operations.

"Britt's leadership style and experience will provide an integrated plant focus, beyond the day-to-day operations, to drive the process improvements needed for Susquehanna to sustain top-quartile industry performance," Shriver said.

McKinney has been employed at Wolf Creek, a 1,200-megawatt nuclear power plant in Burlington, Kan., for a total of 13 years where he held a variety of management positions in power plant operations, training, technical support and instrumentation and control.

As site vice president, he was responsible for site direction with the plant manager and emergency planning, security, resource protection, environmental management and training functions reporting to him. He also worked at the Browns Ferry Nuclear Generating Station in Alabama and started his career at the Fort St. Vrain Nuclear Generating Station in Colorado.

McKinney is a licensed senior reactor operator. He has a Master of Science degree in power engineering from New Mexico State University and Bachelor of Science degrees in engineering science, business administration and mathematics from Regis College, Denver, Colo.

The Susquehanna plant, located in Luzerne County about seven miles north of Berwick, is owned jointly by PPL Susquehanna LLC and Allegheny Electric Cooperative Inc. and is operated by PPL Susquehanna.
