PPL Vice President Announces Retirement After 39 Years of Service

ALLENTOWN, Pa.
Robert S. Gombos, vice president of Field Services for PPL Electric Utilities, will retire May 1, completing a 39-year career with the company.
"Bob's experience, leadership and keen insight in a wide range of positions has benefited PPL throughout his career, particularly in his 20 years as an officer of the corporation," said William F. Hecht, chairman, president and chief executive officer of PPL Corporation. "Over the years he has done an outstanding job in key positions in our electric delivery business, at our Susquehanna nuclear plant and in our Human Resources group."

Sipics said an internal search has begun for a successor.
Gombos has served in his current position since 1994. He leads an organization of 2,000 people who have a vital role in providing reliable electric delivery service to the 1.3 million customers of PPL Electric Utilities, and keeping power plants operated by PPL Generation running smoothly.
Prior to serving in his current position, Gombos was vice president of the company's former construction department and vice president for human resources. He also spent two years as the special assistant to PPL's president for the Susquehanna nuclear plant during the plant's construction.
He earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Lafayette College and started his PPL career in the sales department at Wilkes-Barre.
