PPL Electric Utilities Expects to Restore Service by Evening to Customers Without Power From Wednesday's Storm

An update on storm restoration efforts in south central Pennsylvania by PPL Electric Utilities:
Situation: PPL Electric Utilities projects that it will have service restored by this evening to all customers affected by the severe weather and high wind that hit south central Pennsylvania Wednesday evening (8/4). In Harrisburg, the hardest hit area, line crews from the Lehigh Valley, Sunbury and Bloomsburg are helping local crews repair the damage. The storm interrupted power to more than 20,000 homes and businesses, nearly all in Dauphin, Cumberland and Lancaster counties. Customers Restored: 15,500 since 8 p.m. Wednesday Customers Without Power: 5,000 as of 5 a.m. Affected Areas: Harrisburg area, Cumberland and Lancaster counties Number of Jobs Pending: 85 Cause of Outages: Severe storm with high wind that passed through the area Wednesday evening. Est. Restoration Time: Customers are expected to be back in service by midday Thursday (8/5) in Lancaster and Cumberland counties and by midnight in Harrisburg because a number of the remaining jobs require pole replacements.
