DEP Deputy Secretary Joins PPL

ALLENTOWN, Pa.

Christine M. Martin, deputy secretary for water management in Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection, will join PPL Corporation (NYSE: PPL) June 29 as the company's Pennsylvania Manager of State Government Relations.

In her new position, Martin will be responsible for PPL's Harrisburg government relations activities.

"We are very fortunate to have a person with Christine's background and energy joining PPL," said James M. Seif, PPL's vice president-Corporate Services. "Christine will be an excellent ambassador in articulating PPL's positions on important matters of public policy."

Martin will be headquartered in Harrisburg. She has served in her current position, in which she manages three bureaus with a staff of 270, since late 2001. Martin also served as senior policy manager for Governors Ridge and Schweiker and as executive policy specialist for Gov. Ridge. She began her state government career in 1997 as part of the Pennsylvania Management Intern Program, which is designed to attract recent master's degree recipients to state government management positions.

A native of Pennsylvania, Martin earned a bachelor of arts in International Studies from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a master of public administration from The Pennsylvania State University.
